At Custom Orthotics of London, we provide orthopaedic and diabetic footwear for children and adults, including options designed to accommodate foot orthoses, AFOs and other lower extremity braces.
When standard footwear isn’t enough, our experienced Orthotic Technicians can also modify footwear to improve fit, accommodate a leg length difference or meet other specialized orthopaedic needs.
Orthopaedic & Diabetic Footwear
Properly fitted footwear can play an important role in managing foot pain, pressure and alignment while providing a stable foundation for standing and walking.
We carry a selection of orthopaedic and diabetic shoes, boots and sandals in a variety of widths, depths and styles. Features such as wide toe boxes, removable insoles, additional depth, supportive heel counters and adjustable closures allow us to accommodate different foot shapes, swelling and individual support needs.

Footwear for Orthoses
Finding shoes that fit comfortably over an orthosis can be challenging. Foot orthoses, SMOs and AFOs may require additional width or depth, removable insoles, adjustable closures or other specific footwear features.
We carry options for both children and adults and can help you select footwear that accommodates your orthosis without compromising its fit or function. We can also recommend features to look for when purchasing footwear elsewhere.

Custom Footwear Modifications
Sometimes the right shoe still needs a little help.
Our experienced Orthotic Technicians perform a variety of custom footwear modifications in-house to accommodate differences in alignment, leg length, mobility and individual orthopaedic needs.
Depending on the individual, modifications may include:
- External shoe lifts for leg length differences
- Rocker soles
- Flares and stabilizers
- Sole or heel wedging
- Shoe stretching
- Velcro or closure modifications
- Other custom adaptations
Each modification is completed based on the individual’s prescription, assessment and footwear to help improve function while maintaining a practical, wearable result.
