The Negril Paediatric Orthotics Clinic — Jamaica
Established in 2009, The Elaine Allen-Bradley Paediatric Orthotic Foundation is a medical non-profit that focuses on increasing the mobility and quality of life of Jamaican children. Since its inception, we have raised the standard of medical treatment for children in Jamaica — increasing awareness and the standard of care for children living with orthopaedic challenges that limit their daily activities.
The local team is assisted by Dawn MacArthur Turner and the Custom Orthotics of London team. The clinic runs for four to five days at a time and takes place several times each year; during these visits, 40 to 60 local children aged 2 to 10 receive care. At the beginning of every mission, we ship gently used orthoses and shoes, paediatric walking aids, socks and other orthotic equipment designed for children. Once there, we offer complimentary orthotic consultations, gently used orthoses, and parental education on orthotic care, daily functioning and challenges.
The clinic could not operate without the support of the RIU Hotel and Resorts, Elaine Bradley, local volunteers, volunteer orthotic clinicians from the United States and Canada, and our many sponsors and donors.
