The WalkAide System

Functional electrical stimulation (FES) that helps you walk more naturally with foot drop — no brace required.

The WalkAide is a single-unit FES system that improves walking ability in people with foot drop caused by upper motor neuron injury or disease.

How the WalkAide works

The WalkAide System uses functional electrical stimulation to improve walking ability in people with foot drop. A small, self-contained device worn just below the knee senses the motion of your leg and stimulates the nerve that lifts your foot — at exactly the right moment in your gait.

The result is a more natural, efficient walking pattern, often without the need for a traditional ankle-foot orthosis.

Who it can help

Foot drop from an upper motor neuron condition may make someone a candidate for the WalkAide. We assess each individual to confirm suitability.

Assessment & Trial

Candidacy is determined through a clinical assessment and a trial of the device, so you can experience the difference before committing. Our team supports you through fitting, programming and follow-up.
